About Strathspey

Grantown on Spey is the capital of the Strathspey district which boasts spectacular scenery and wildlife.


Strathspey is the valley of the river Spey which runs from Advie in the north to Laggan in the South and encompasses several towns and villages which are situated in the valley including Newtonmore,  Kingussie, Aviemore,  Nethy Bridge,  Carrbridge, Dulnain bridge and Grantown on Spey.


Take a trip to neighbouring Loch Garten Nature Reserve to spot the ospreys or outstanding Loch Morlich where you can have a picnic on a pristine beach whilst watching the Funicular Railway wind its way through the Cairngorms to the Ptarmigan station.  Hire a canoe or windsurfer from Loch Morlich watersport centre or take a trip on the Strathspey Steam Railway.

Upon leaving Aviemore take the A95 to Grantown on Spey.


 On arriving in the town, continue along the High St until you reach the Town Square and turn sharp left at the Bank of Scotland.  This takes you onto Seafield Avenue.


Continue up Seafield Avenue, past the first crossroads and Moray Park is 100 yards on the left hand side.


Turn left into Moray Park and Moray Lodge is on the left at the end of the driveway.


 If you reach the Japanese Pagoda, you have gone about 20 feet too far!


Nearest Airport  -  Inverness  - 45 minutes


Either pick up a hired car or take a taxi (about £90).


Alternatively, take the airport bus to Inverness where you can get either a train to Aviemore then taxi/bus or a bus straight to Grantown on Spey.


Airport pick ups can be arranged in advance for a fee.

Nearest Station  -  Aviemore


Take the Scotrail service to Aviemore Station.  Upon leaving the station take a taxi to Seafield Avenue in Grantown.  The fare will be around £20.
